A bill to ban discrimination based on hairstyles passed the California Senate unanimously.

The legislation will ban dress codes that forbid braids, twists and other natural hair styles. The bill known as the C.R.O.W.N. Act (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) was introduced by Los Angeles Democrat Sen. Holly J. Mitchell.

You would think that California would have more important things to legislate. Pandering for black votes. "Look how much they care about us! They protect our hair! Trump would never do that for us" This bill is a joke. Demand more from your lawmakers!

California is a country within a country, they have laws that no other states have,I guess they have every Anti bill you can think of.😯.Everyone went straight to women ,but I am sure men with dreads, locs, fro's,appreciate the bill to be treated with respect especially in being hired and the work environment.

It is a damn shame that there has to be Senate intervention to ensure hair, hair that GOD created, growing naturally out of the heads of human beings, is not the basis of discriminatory acts against Black people. WTF! Seriously?!

This should be struck down nationwide. No person should be discriminated against because of their natural hair. These dress code issues were mainly designed and directed towards people of color who wear these natural hair styles. We have been made to cut, perm and wear our hair a certain way to fit in with who white folks. When did hair become so threatening?

What's even worse than this is the fact that black folk fight to even get this passed INSTEAD of owning and controlling our OWN institutions so that you can Afro dress in anyway you see fit.

I can't believe they even have to legislate on this. I am so sick of these white (or dare I say pink) devils! Black people should start loving themselves and their own people, and start owning their businesses and supporting one another rather over depending on these devils for jobs who are not interested in giving them jobs in the first place, and when they do give them jobs, they do it for quota reasons, after putting all kinds of obstacles to prevent hiring them. I am so glad I have never worked for these devils – my late father would have killed me had I done so. I started working for my father's business and went on to expand it. There is no reason why other black people cannot do the same rather than depending on this SOBs for handouts.

CERTAIN DISCRIMINATION HERE IN UNITED STATE IS SO DUMB AND UTTERLY STUPID. HOW IN THE WORLD WOULD THERE BE A BAN ON SOMEONE'S NATURAL HAIR IN THE FIRST PLACE? MAYBE THESE IDIOTS SHOULD BAN THE SUN 🌞 OR MOON 🌙

They may have passed this, but there are other ways to discriminate against someone. They will go around the bush to not hire you in another form of way. You'll see….Colorado is an AT WILL state which at any given time and for whatever reason, they have a will to fire you. And YOU will have to figure out Discrim or not. I mean they will tell you, but in reality its how it goes, Its sad, because I remember a time where they had to break it down on why you were being terminated, but now they can let you go because you don't look the part anymore….

Racist people there are different species of humans animals trees and others so we have to be tolerant and coexist. You can't regulate morality, but we can create laws. Our beauty has always been an issue for them.
    Tignon Law
This headdress was the result of sumptuary laws passed in 1786 under the administration of Governor Esteban Rodriguez Miró. Called the tignon laws, they prescribed and enforced appropriate public dress for female gens de couleur (blacks) in colonial society.

I am like dont touch my hair I dont know where your mf hands been. Brainwash to thinking u are not beautiful unless u have a perm. Black girl here rocking her natural hair.

The bill should be passed in ALL states, not just California. It is stupid to discriminate against someone's natural hair. Nature created your hair the way it naturally is. I adore my hair.

That's because "they" see us wearing our hair "natural" as a show of defiance against the system. That's why the early entertainers wore wigs. Now that the craze is wigs, hair pieces, and weaves, people are complaining that black people, women especially, don't wear their hair "natural" It is a constant battle. Some places will not hire you if you wear your hair "natural". But complain if you wear wigs or weaves. It's a no-win situation.

Yes, it's an absolute shame that a bill had to been passed to make this practice illegal. White people have no common sense and they can't be trusted to do the right thing. They have used our hair as weapon to humilate and discriminate against us – no more!
