How many of you have recommended a razor cut to that client who had just one unfavorable end result with a razor? You know the one, “I don’t ever want my hair to be cut with a razor again!” A lot of clients out there have had that one experience where they left the salon with their hair feeling rough and split.

We think you know by now that we love razors! They are fun to work with, we can create beautiful shapes and we know that excitement is created in the salon when stylists are using their razors.

You should recall that we set you up with the fundamentals of razor cutting and now we want to turn you on to controlling your razor angle to keep the ends of the hair friendly and the cuticle layer of the hair intact.

Is it supposed to hurt? When it was being done with my hair, I could hear the crackling noise of it cutting and it feeling like it was pulling my scalp.

I have fine to medium thickness hair. Razoring my hair makes it look frizzy at the ends and flat.

According to my level 2 hairdressing book, you can only use a razor on wet hair otherwise they tear and shred the cuticle leaving the cortex frayed and exposed. Is that a razor specifically made for dry hair or is the book wrong?

This is great!! If your hair has already been ruined by the razor, how can you hide/fix all the ends that " look" split? I hear protect every time with bumble n bumble or Kerestate then add oil after my style but still see lots of flyaways😞I can't stand what the razor did to my hair

Thanks, I tend to do the second one. I need to be more conscious were I place my blade so that it comes out smoothly. I love razor cutting and talk a lot of my clients into razor cut. They love how it lays, especially with pixie cuts.

Very good advice. Is in true though that's better to cut with the razor only on wet hair? And not the whole haircut done by the razor just thinning or creating depth.
