Here’s an easy way to learn how to finger wave with a curling iron + get a great 1920s hairstyle for your Halloween costume!

A lot of you requested Downton Abbey Hairstyles and flapper hairstyles. This hair tutorial is perfect for both! It’s totally reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s. You would have seen this on movie starlets in silent films and at lavish parties like those in the Great Gatsby (hopefully without the dying in the pool bit…). I think it’s perfect for your Halloween costume this year!

Ok so this only works with long hair. You should add "for long hair" to the title. How do you do this type of 1920s do with short hair, no toxic stinky hairspray, and still look nice through the evening? Ugh. So not finding what I need.

Apparently you are not a cosmetologist because I am a Cosmetology Instructor and what you are doing is Pin Curls Babe , because Finger waves were not done by curling irons it was done by Using Dippy Do Gel and using a rat tail comb to ribbon the hair and finger pinching the hair away from face in wave horizontal motion caked down dipping wet with gel and it air dryed usually over night , I can tell your a dumb blonde with no cosmetology school training.

The tutorial is really wonderful. Even though my hair is too short for it now. But I do wonder how did women in those days manage to get them fixed. I've heard of sugar water… and of course wax. But wax wouldn't do for this one, I guess.

*3 hours later. I’m sorry there’s no way every woman in the 20s took this long to make their hair look exactly the same as everyone else’s. Hack: curl, brush, pin. Thanx.
