For those that feel growing out the demarcation is too difficult, the question of highlighting, low-lighting or stripping comes up. There is an alternative.

Great video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you tried – Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (do a google search)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my close friend Aubrey got cool success with it.

This is such a great video, Im 23 and I'm already getting gray hair coming in. I'm wanting to keep the gray but I don't want to go through the odd phase where it's not completely the length of the rest of your hair. I've used clip in hair extensions before and I didn't think about using them this way such a good idea!!

Hello. I have watched this video and now I don't know what to do. I want gray hair, and I am 70 years old. I have been a very light blonde, all my life. The last 20 years it has turned very dark, with no life, kind of drab brown. I have some little gray hair on the side temples and it does not appear that it will ever really go ahead and turn gray throughout. My mother was the same, blonde, dark brown, and when she died at 87 she had very little gray. Are you sure its a mistake to put some blonde back in it, if I keep it conditioned? The reason you look so beautiful, is the light color on your face and skin. The blonde will give me that lift I need to brighten my blue eyes and skin.
I'm thinking I won't go gray and be stuck with this ugly no life brown. I so enjoy your videos and value your professional opinion. Maybe I should listen to you, and just accept the dark hair. Sad in Texas….Ann

Thank you for your tips and for especially eyebrow tips. I have been struggling with mine since I turned 66. Also because I have some health issues which cause shaking. I perservere on with my make up though. I wear wigs for now because my health issues caused my hair to fall out. I don't mind wearing wigs but I cannot wear them for too long during the day. If I had even as much hair as you I would buy the add ons. Thanks again for the eyebrow tips.

I am 6 1/2 months hairdye-free. I wouldn't recommend getting lowlights to blend gray, and here's why. There is a natural mourning period when transitioning to silver, and that would only be prolonged by continuing to use hair dye. I chose to cut most of my hair off to transition, and now I'm missing my hair length, too. Plus, the lowlights route is ego based. I say, go for it! Take the natural plunge and make sure you have a good support system instead of being around friends and family that try to talk you out of it.

I guess after transition is completed you can colour the extensions to match your actual new grey/white and use them for fullness if desired.

Women if you have grey hair, go grey . if you wear it well it is stunning and you are breaking out from the rest. Women with grey hair have a confidence that shows through, I personally love the highlights of three shades of grey.

I love your pragmatic and stylish approach! 🙂 I am 40 now and I have very few whites but I am already thinking about the loss of colour that awaits me. I had started with dye the past year and then I ditched it this May. When the real whites will come, I want it to found my hair already natural and healthy. Thanks for this great video and all the links! 😉

What a great idea to use mini extensions to help in the transition to grey, instead of adding highly bleached highlights to the growing out tine – I will definitely now give the former a try instead of the latter… 🙂

Is there a permanent type color-rinse that I can use? I have salt & pepper hair, more pepper than salt. The gray is really battleship gray. I would like to make the gray whitish and leave the dark hair alone. Is there a brand that would just affect the "salt" part and not the pepper? Thank you.

i got to you late and this vid is a year old! My deep black hair began going gray gradually in my forties with just a few streaks of silver here and there! Now it is a silvery gray that I have never colored and I get many compliments on the color so that has convinced me to embrace it and even flaunt it at times but in a fun way with friends….being 73 can be fun!

My hair turned out to be very strong and healthy so I was able to add highlights with no problems whatsoever.  The gray is growing in nicely and I don't have a skunk stripe.  I had been coloring my hair black at home, but went to a professional for the highlights.  I may go in for highlights one more time just to add a few more, but it has definitely helped me with my transition and my hair looks good during the growing out phase.  One tip I learned is to use a blue-based shampoo, not purple, to keep the highlights from turning brassy.  It has made a HUGE difference and it keeps the highlights blended in perfectly with my newly emerging gray hair.

@Cornflower Pink   Thank you for your compliment.  Its actually keeping it monochromatic that is pleasing to the eye.  The only colour I'm wearing in this video is my lipcolour and a hint of blush.  Especially with gray hair.  I still subscribe to the principles of good design and for gray hair, monochromatic works very well here too. Various shades of gray, white, black, cool taupe, stone, white sand, etc. ALL work well together.  And when you take the monochromatic approach it compliments and supports gray rather than fighting with it for focus.  Its like a picture frame for the face and your main communication tools – your eyes and mouth (on a fresh clean canvass or even skin tone).  And this approach keeps my wardrobe very, very simple and I can put anything with anything and it goes well. Simple, streamlined, effective and "oh so chic".

Wow you look beautiful here Sharon! Not sure if it's the black or the whole package..
I don't understand the vehement voices that say never never on a darker lip for more mature women. I am 56 with dark brown eyes just starting to go gray after bleaching blonde for years. My dark brown eyes are not enough for the intensity needed but I put on a dark red lip and pow – it all comes together. I too get many compliments on my look. Some times I go lighter for a different look. I don't know why it is considered any of our business what a woman enjoys or knows about herself.
This video is timely for me as I have several inches of gray out growth and, even though my hair is pretty much ruined by bleach and coloring, have thought about reaching for the bleach or pulling some blonde through to transition. You've given me pause to re-think it. Love your videos.

Thank goodness my hair stylist was honest, (my adopted daughter) I use to do highlights and low lights, but when the roots started to appear platinum she 1st advised me that continuing the process would cost to maintain and 2nd she picked up her color swatch book and held the platinum and ash blonde samples on my scalp a total match! It was an easy decision to just let it go. I haven't gone completely white like my mother, but it's just around the corner. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks, but most of all for reminding me not to run out and try every new gimmick the beauty industry puts out there! Just wish I could see clearly enough to use and apply false lashes you sport, oh well.

Sharon, I appreciate all your wisdom and tips. But each time I watch your videos, I am distracted by the very dark color of your lipstick. I wonder if you have ever considered a pink gloss or matte pink or coral color. I think it would look wonderful on you. Wld you consider doing a two minute tip showing us a couple lighter shades of lipstick with your beautiful gray hair?

Thanks so much for these great tips Sharon……..I will be 60 this Spring, and I have very little gray hair.  Some of my girlfriends think that it's a good thing, but I actually wish my gray was coming in stronger……at this time in my life I'm ready to embrace the gray lol.  As I have mentioned before, I have a pixie cut, and I'm such a fan of Jamie Lee Curtis's hair color and style.  Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year !

Sharon, I totally agree with you on all….I stopped dying my gray hair over 5 years ago…I cut it pixie short and totally enjoyed the growing out process….so many people loved my "punk" look….so many wanted to know who did my color…!!!  I have totally been tempted to cut it short again and dye it just to get the same effect of it growing out…wish I'd made some pictures….I definitely do not regret going gray…!!!  I would love to hear your best tips for caring for gray hair…..sometimes mine gets a little dull….THANKS…xoxo  Wanda  😀
